Background
Nielson received his bachelors of science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah in 1976. Nielson has lived in Arizona since 1976 and has been an Avondale resident since 2004 [3]. After receiving the bachelor’s degree, he became involved in office management, process design, feasibility studies, and cost estimations of metallurgical engineering. Thereafter, he became a principle in MCN Consulting Company [1].
Nielson is a Bishop of his local church and Treasurer for 4 PAC for Bond and Override elections in the Littleton and Tolleson School Districts. He is currently a member of the Community Advisory Group for the Phoenix/Goodyear Airport Superfund Site, AZ Municipal Water Users Association, Avondale Interfaith Council, the Contributions Assistance Program Review Committee, the Littleton Elementary School Board and his HOA Board. In 2018, Nielson was elected to the Avondale City Council [1].

Nielson had hoped to further the extent of affordable housing in Avondale. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he compiled data to find information regarding government initiatives in Avondale. Nielson has voiced support for greater residential involvement in government projects. In 2020, he discussed representation’s relationship to housing [2]
