Monroe receieved a MS in math and science education from Johns Hopkins University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in educational leadership from George Mason University. Monroe works as a physics teacher at McLean High School and is a member of the Virginia STEM Education Advisory Board. Monroe previously served as a board member and Chair of the McLean Citizens Association’s Environmental, Parks, and Recreation Committee. Additionally, he represented Dranesville on the Environmental Quality Advisory Council [1, 3].
Monroe unsuccessfully ran for election to Virginia’s 48th seat in the House of Delegates in 2021. 
Monroe wants to keep Fairfax and Arlington schools at their current status of excellent performance and avoid politicization of curriculum .
