Elaine Fekete earned her BS from Virginia Tech. She worked in New York City as a Buyer and Product Developer/Designer for Lord & Taylor and May Company. Fekete is now a realtor and is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Virginia Association of Realtors, and the Hampton Roads Association of Realtors [1, 7]. She is also the vice president of the Sandbridge Beach Civic League .
Fekete is against regulations on short-term rentals. She has been an advocate against increasing regulations on short-term rentals, particularly smaller ones and more residential ones . She also supports the keeping of backyard hens .
Fekete supports programs such as the agricultural reserve program, or ARP, which preserves farmland in the city .
Fekete wants to remain mindful of the events that took place during Hurricane Matthew and ensure the city has reliable, well-maintained stormwater infrastructure to prevent flooding .
Fekete wants to lower fees for trash pickup, water and other utility taxes and is against raising any taxes or fees . She also supports relief on the city’s prepared food/restaurant tax .
Fekete is in favor of training police to high standards and wants to ensure they have the tools necessary to address problems .
Fekete wants to provide dependable sources of revenue to public schools and wants to support teachers .
