Ellen Wright earned an associate’s degree in biology from Clayton Junior College, a B.S. in biology and chemistry, and medical laboratory training from Georgia State University. She later received an A.S. in paralegal studies at South University. Wright has volunteered as secretary in the Meriwether County Democratic Committee since 2018 .
Wright has 25 years of experience as a medical laboratory technologist and has been heavily involved in volunteer service. She works towards accessible global healthcare with Children’s Cross Connection International and advocates for children in foster care with Troup County Court Appointed Special Advocates  .
Wright advocates for increased healthcare access in rural areas, especially for maternity and pediatric care that the few rural hospitals often lack .
Wright is against constitutional carry and supports gun control .
Wright opposes new restrictions on who can vote in elections .
Wright believes in increasing taxes to maintain school system funding, partially through 2% increases in taxes on sizable businesses .
Wright is pro-choice .
Wright is not opposed to gambling, believing that it merely serves as another stream of revenue .
