Gerarda Culipher graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA, majoring in classics and classical languages, literatures, and linguistics and minoring in the history of science, medicine, and technology, and from Tulane University Law School with a JD. She interned and clerked for two judges [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Culipher also worked as an Adjunct Professor at American University College of Law, has lectured at the Omohundro Institute’s “Law & Legal Culture in Early America” symposium, and taught at multiple Virginia Continuing Legal Education courses [1, 2, 4]. Eventually, Culipher began working for the Fairfax Circuit Court Clerk’s Office for a decade as its legal counsel and Chief Deputy Clerk [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. She has served on the Executive Board of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association, the Northern Virginia Women Attorneys Association, the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials & Clerks, the International Association of Government Officials, and on the Fairfax County Small Business Commission [1, 3, 4]. Culipher is also the Registrar of Girl Scout Troop 6091 [1, 4].
