Background

Wright graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s of science in accounting. Wright previously worked as a senior accountant at Arthur Andersen & Co. before making the move to senior vice president with CBRE. He also founded his own commercial real estate development company, which was active until 2018, when he stepped away for personal reasons [1, 4, 5].

Wright founded the nonprofit organization Birthmother Ministries which helps women who face an unplanned pregnancy by matching them with volunteers and providing them with assistance as well as religious services. Wright has not previously run for or held public office [1, 5].

Key Issues

Abortion

Wright believes that life begins from conception and that abortion should not be allowed. Wright believes that the only exception to this is if the mother’s life is in danger as a result of the pregnancy. Wright does not believe in rape exceptions [1].

Campaign Finance

Wright is opposed to the current system and wishes to amend laws regarding campaign donations. Wright believes that more information regarding dark money, such as the donator, should be provided to the public [1].

Taxes

Wright wants to gradually bring the corporate tax rate in Virginia to zero. Wright believes that doing so would allow the economy to thrive and would bring more companies and jobs to Virginia [1, 2].
