Rodden graduated from La Salle University with a BA in English writing and religion in 2003 and graduated from Holy Family University with a MA in education in 2010. Rodden worked primarily in retail sales for the first ten years of his professional career and now works as a self-published author of middle-school fantasy and sci-fi novels. Rodden also works as a substitute teacher in Chesapeake Public Schools, and volunteers with the City of Chesapeake as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for disconnected youth. Rodden is a father of three children in the Chesapeake Public School system and previously ran for election to an at-large school board seat in 2022 [2, 7].

Rodden wants to increase wages for teachers to improve working conditions, which he believes will also improve both student quality of life and the efficacy of public education systems [1].


Rodden wants to promote equitable access to education for all students regardless of geographical location in Chesapeake and supports the necessary allocation of resources to ensure this among Chesapeake schools – Rodden also supports mental health awareness and LGBTQ+ acceptance in these public forums [1].
