Key Facts
Background
Jeremy G. Allen graduated from Lamar University with a BBA in Management Information Systems and an MBA [3]. While at Lamar, Allen started an education program that aims to help students with disabilities. The Texas state government and his local church community both partnered with him to organize a foundation offering free tutoring and scholarships [2]. In 2015, Allen was recognized as a 2015 Texas Business Hall of Fame Scholar for his work. He also received International Honors Certificates from USC Marshall School of Business for new product development and UCLA Anderson School of Management for entrepreneurship in 2017 [3].
Allen has served as a staffer for U.S. Representative Don Beyer, who represents the Mason District in Congress. In this role, he has managed constituent service issues concerning seniors, veterans, minorities, and Fairfax County residents. In his local neighborhood, Allen was a leader in “Save Bren Mar”, a group that stopped a rezoning proposal that would have changed the zoning of a particular building to create more potential uses for the building; some residents were worried about the possibility of it becoming a data center [2, 7].

Allen believes that Fairfax County residents should be given more say in their county’s policies. He hopes to lead initiatives similar to his experience with “Save Bren Mar” and wants communities to have power over large corporations [5].
Housing
After struggling to afford housing in Fairfax County, Allen purchased his own home through the Fairfax County Workforce Development program. He wants to increase awareness, access, and effectiveness of the program so that others can receive the same benefits that he did [6].
Government
