Karen Moultrie has served in the U.S. Air Force and was appointed to the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council and Chesapeake Arboretum Advisory Board in 2021 . When she was attending Gar-Field Senior High School, she created a petition to fill in a missing bio for an African-American man, Rodger Fitzgerald, in the high school’s history of principals. After collecting the necessary signatures, her proposal led to Fitzgerald, who had helped in the integration of public schools in Prince William County, being placed with a photograph plaque and his accolades in the school’s main hallway .
