Larry Johnson graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Community Health and the University of Northern Colorado with a master’s in Public Health . Johnson has served as the District 3 Commissioner since 2003 and has been elected to the seat five times. He is the Presiding Officer for the DeKalb County Commission. During his time as Commissioner, he chaired the Health Steering Committee in the National Association of Counties and was elected to the Association County Commissioners of Georgia Board of Managers .
Johnson supports keeping prescription drug costs low and implementing the Prescription Discount Drug Card, which enables citizens to save 20% on drugs not covered by insurance.
Johnson believes in encouraging exercise and beginning an initiative focused on incentivizing residents to walk .
Johnson believes in working with community leaders to complete infrastructure projects such as 170 senior living units and a performing arts center .
