Leslie Gutierrez obtained her bachelor’s degree in Economics, Cum Laude, and her master’s degree in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from the Université Paris XIII. During law school, Gutierrez interned for the Federal Public Defender’s Office in the Capital Habeas Unit. When she was 22, she immigrated to the United States from France. Gutierrez attended Southwestern Law School, earned multiple awards, and was chosen to be a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Program. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Public Service Distinction.
After graduating, she worked as a criminal defense attorney before becoming a prosecutor. She joined the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office in 2012, and since 2016, she has been assigned to a specialized unit primarily focused on prosecuting individuals who prey on children. Her cases focus on child murder, child sexual abuse, and child physical abuse .
Gutierrez wants to provide diversity to the Superior Court in Los Angeles. She supports an open but critical mind and promotes fairness and impartiality. She wants to provide a safe and respectful environment in the court and to promote transparency in decisions [2, 3].
