Peg McGuire earned an associate’s degree in Arts and Communications from Saint Louis Community College, a BA in Journalism from Saint Louis University, and an MA in Journalism and Communication Management from Saint Louis University . She is a communications, marketing, and media consultant. McGuire volunteers for the African American Norfolk & Western Heritage Group, the Norfolk & Western Historical Society, and the Roanoke National Railroad Historical Society, as well as the Virginia Children’s Theater, of which she is on the Board of Directors. She has also worked as the Director of Communications for the Virginia Museum of Transportation, where she led the marketing and media for the restoration and return of the Norfolk & Western Class J 611 Steam Passenger Locomotive to Roanoke . McGuire is a council-appointed commissioner at the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority .
