MacArthur Payne graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in Health Science [2, 3, 4]. Payne was a part of the Salvation Army, eventually becoming a Captain working in West Virginia and Washington D.C. as director of an Alcohol Program. He is a trained volunteer EMT and paramedic . Payne has been a Physician’s Assistant for 18 years, starting in Corrections and also working at the Veteran Hospital in Martinsburg in ER and Primary Care. He has spent the last 6 years working at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, VA as a Psychiatric Physician Assistant in Maximum Security with the seriously mentally ill. He is a board member at Northwestern Community Services .
Payne wants to improve student mental health .
