Key Issues

DeSantis believes that healthcare is a human right and believes in a single-payer healthcare system that guarantees healthcare since birth, detaching healthcare from employment and ensuring everyone receives equitable care regardless of income level.

DeSantis supports free Pre K-12 education, the guarantee of education as a human right in the Constitution, federal investment in school infrastructure, universal school meals, canceling student loan debt, federal subsidies for graduate degrees and strengthening the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, as well as other programs to ensure free education.

Racial and Social Justice

DeSantis believes that in order to make education equitable for Black students, federal policies must be changed. He believes that a federal jobs program with a livable wage, a universal healthcare system, environmental justice legislation that protects neighborhoods from pollution, and increased federal funding towards education will create a better quality of life for both Black and working class communities.

Criminal Justice Reform

DeSantis supports ending the use of no-knock warrants, banning private prisons, ending cash bail, and legalizing cannabis on a federal level. He also supports amending the Thirteenth Amendment to discontinue allowing slavery “as punishment for crime”.

Desantis supports the Green New Deal, investing in green infrastructure, and accomplishing net-zero emissions by changing energy systems.

Campaign Finance

DeSantis supports increasing transparency in both the election and legislative processes and has pledged to support amending the Constitution to decrease the influence of money in political campaigns and government. DeSantis believes the cause to decrease the influence of corporate donations and lobbyists in politics is a bipartisan effort.
