Matt Stoll, a former Navy fighter pilot with 20 years of service, retired in 2019 after flying 44 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was last stationed at NAS Lemoore.
Post-military, he initiated a property management business in Visalia and owns Garden World, a retail store. Stoll made two unsuccessful attempts for Congress last year, placing third in the primaries for both the special election to replace Rep. Devin Nunes and Rep. Jim Costa.
Stoll believes that government intervention in the economy is harmful. He contends that Californian taxpayers face inequitable burdens based on their geographic location, experiencing elevated property and gas taxes. He suggests that the core issue lies in excessive spending by both the state and federal governments rather than a shortage of revenue.
Stoll has expressed concerns that current policing policies are placing additional strain on officers. He is also a vocal critic of the Defund the Police movement.
