Background

Maya Esparza received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Anthropology from Mills College, and earned her Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from San Jose State University [3]. Esparza formerly served as board member of Franklin-McKinley School District, and as Commissioner of the Community Development Block Grant Commission for the City of San Jose. She is co-founder of Veterans Voices Santa Clara County, was the founding Board President of Latinas Contra Cancer, and led the All The Way Home campaign in pursuit of ending homelessness among veterans living in Santa Clara County. Esparza is the daughter of two teachers, and was raised in San Jose [1].
