Michael Anthony Rivera graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in computer and systems engineering, as well as a master’s degree in engineering. He is a certified law enforcement officer and a detective with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Rivera wants “the removal of identity politics from the classroom” . He supports the investigation launched by the Virginia governor and the Virginia Attorney General against the school district; Rivera also supports making internal reviews of schools, such as the one on sexual assaults, public .
Rivera wants to protect parents’ rights . He thinks that legislation such as Policy 8040 is harming parents’ rights and wants to see that legislation revised .
Rivera wants to strengthen school security through adding more school resource officers, reviewing current procedures, and amping up security protocols [1, 5].
Rivera wants to create a positive work environment for teachers so they can focus on the central goal of educating students .
