Key Issues

Curriculum

Petko wants to de-politicize the classroom and ensure that what is being taught is based on “quality research methods”. Petko also wants to guarantee that what is being taught in classrooms is age-appropriate to its grade level and that it is free of any political influence [1].

Parental Involvement

Petko wants to protect the “inalienable right” of parents to govern their child’s education; he wants to ensure that parents’ rights are respected while the school system is open to public scrutiny [1].
