Key Issues

Blanding supports ensuring the protection of all sexual orientations. She hopes to create community based, anti-violence initiatives focused on transgender individuals, provide non-binary bathrooms in public schools, and implement grants for LGBTQ+ small business owners.

Public Safety

Blanding seeks to hold police accountable by ending Qualified Immunity, requiring law enforcement to live where they work, and banning police unions. She also wants to enable individuals with previous felony convictions the right to vote, and legalize marijuana.

Blanding wants to support individuals living in housing instability by altering tax, rental, and zoning laws. She also wants to provide emergency funds to renters and place vacant, corporate-owned units under community control.

Environmental Reform/Climate Change

Blanding believes in transitioning to clean energy products with the goal of making Virginia a 100% clean energy state by 2050. She looks to permanently protect forests, waterways, and mountains from industrial development while protecting workers in the fossil fuel industry.
