Ray Deer graduated with a Bachelor’s in Political Science from California State University at Long Beach and a Masters in Education from National University. Deer is a member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, currently working as an associate judge for them and as a pro tem judge for the Gila River Community, Tonto Apache, and Yavapai Apache Tribe. He is running for Mesa Unified School District Board. He has been a governing school board member for Salt River Schools from 2015-2017 and has held volunteer leadership positions for Boy Scouts of America, New Leaf’s East Valley Men’s Center, and California Welfare Home Storage Center .
