Background

Ricardy J. Anderson graduated from Buffalo State University with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaching. She then earned her Master’s in educational leadership andadministration from Howard University. Anderson also earned a doctoral degree from the University of the Pacific [2]. Anderson is a former elementary school teacher and vice principal with Prince George’s County Public Schools. She then shifted towards administration, serving as principal of multiple schools and Director of Teaching for District of Columbia Public Schools [3]. Throughout her 23 year career, Anderson has obtained the Virginia Index of Performance Board of Excellence Award, Virginia Board of Education Excellence Award, and the Virginia Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence. Anderson has also been involved with service on the HOA board, Girl Scouts, Mason District Little League, Annandale Boys and Girls Club, and the Mason Crest Parent Teacher Organization [1].

Through the implementation of the One Fairfax policy, Anderson hopes to increase personalized and equitable learning [1].

Anderson wants to ensure adequate staffing and decrease the student to teacher ratio. She also hopes to implement a Peer Assistance Review Program that would support teacher development [1]. In 2019, she led efforts to establish collective bargaining for FCPS employees [4].
