Robert Scarborough graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Agribusiness . Scarborough has spent the past 24 years running Green Trees Grocery Outlet and the Furniture Depot, selling grocery products and furniture at a discounted rate . As a business owner, he manages associates, procures products, and handles finances. He has also served two terms as Yuma County precinct committeeman .
Scarborough believes in conservative city spending and careful budget management while maintaining low taxes. He states that with outside revenue sources such as agriculture, tourism, and military bases, the city should be able to balance the budget. Scarborough would like to build a surplus to reduce taxes and draw business . He is against spending money on grant building projects which he believes only benefit a small segment of society .
Scarborough believes one of Yuma’s biggest challenges is the lack of high-paying jobs. He is against higher taxes and increased spending to solve this issue. He instead wants to boost employment in the private sector and encourage growth with low taxes and fees .
