Background

Robert Schroeder is a graduate of the Apache Junction Citizen Leadership Institute [6]. He was first elected to the Apache Junction City Council in 2018 [7]. Schroeder sits on the boards of CAG (Central Arizona Governments) and PRTA (Pinal County Regional Transportation Authority). He is the owner/operator of Three Phase Mechanical, a local HVAC company. Schroeder was a member of the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce, along with being the former Apache Junction Planning & Zoning Commissioner [3].

Key Issues

Environment

Schroeder wants to reduce light pollution in Apache Junction. In his previous years as councilmember, Schroeder has advocated for making Apache Junction an International Dark Skies community, including introducing policies to regulate outdoor lights [5, 7].

Infrastructure

Schroeder wants to develop the downtown/Main Street area of Apache Junction while maintaining equestrian and dark sky areas. Schroeder also advocated for the creation of the service sign outside Apache Junction [3].

Economy

Schroeder supports local and small businesses and wants to advocate for their growth [3].

Public Safety

Schroeder has not supported the installation of 15 public safety cameras around town to take pictures of vehicle license plates. This is because he believed that the contract for the program was too open-ended, putting the city in a situation of paying for extra insurance, power to the cameras and the cost of moving the cameras. He was the only council member to vote against the contract [2].
