Ronnie Watson has a doctorate degree in Education from Virginia State University with an emphasis on Educational Leadership and Education Administration and Supervision. He served in the US military as an airborne ranger .
Watson formerly worked as a Teacher at Vernon Johns Middle School and Richmond Public Schools and Assistant Principal at Peabody Middle School. He has worked as Principal at Vernon Johns Middle & Jr. High School, A.P. Hill Elementary School, Franklin High School, and JEB Stuart Elementary [1, 4].
Watson is a former Coordinator of Discipline/Student Services for Petersburg City Public Schools, Division Director of Testing/Coordinator of Instruction/Pupil Personnel Services for Franklin City Public Schools, administrator for Brunswick County Public Schools, and Teacher Evaluator at a university in Ethiopia. He is currently the CEO of R&L Management and Consulting, LLC [1, 4].
Watson aims to create a panel of teachers and administrators to vet vendors and the programs they offer and present their findings to the school board in order to choose ‘the best’ teaching curriculum for students. He aims to have every school in Petersburg accredited by having the right curriculum. Watson believes the school needs to have less programs and spend less money on programs that are not proven to be effective for Petersburg students .
