Russ Goodman earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia [1]. He has been a State Senator serving District 8 since 2021, and he is also a seventh-generation farmer. Goodman is involved in several community organizations, including First Baptist Church Homerville, where he serves on the Board of Deacons; leadership positions within the MBG Blueberry Farmers Co-op; the Clinch County Development Authority; and several others [2]. He is the current Secretary of the State Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee, and a member of the Natural Resources and the Environment, Special Judiciary, and Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security Committees [4].

Goodman prioritizes creating economic opportunities within South Georgia by promoting small farmers, small businesses, higher education institutions like Valdosta State University and the Moody Air Force Base, and building industry. Goodman plans to protect Georgian farmers from competition with cheap produce from other countries. He plans to decrease regulations that put American farmers at a disadvantage and to expand the agriculture industry, creating more jobs [2].


Goodman supports public schools, students, and educators. He plans to increase the resources available to them, including broadband, funding, and teachers’ wages. He also plans to prioritize Valdosta State University in the state budget and support its graduates [2].
