Shirley Auguste earned an AS in General Studies from Piedmont Virginia Community College and a BS in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Auguste has obtained an MA in Management, an MED in Education Leadership, and an MA in Practical Theology from Regent University. She has earned a Doctorate of Education from Capella University in Curriculum and Instruction with Distinction. Auguste has worked as a Teacher, Teacher Mentor, and Principal. She has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Regent University and South University and is owner of Jasaron Learning Institute in Chesapeake. Additionally, Auguste is a published Author. She is a first-generation Haitian-American [1, 4].
Auguste wants the school board to support the superintendent to ensure schools get necessary support and funding .
In order to counteract the achievement gap caused by the pandemic, Auguste plans to provide additional reading/writing and mathematics instructional support during the school day, as well as providing the option of after-school academic tutoring for those with additional challenges .
To address safety, Auguste plans to consult engineers to find ways to stop intruders or people with harmful intentions .
