Staci Martin left high school in 10th grade but received her GED when she was 21 years old. Martin went on to graduate from Radford University with a Bachelor’s in Media, Marketing, and English. Martin graduated from Old Dominion University with a Master’s in English Language and Literature/Letters [1, 3].
From 2005 to 2015, Martin worked as a Visitor Services Specialist for Virginia State Parks. From 2015 to the present, Martin has worked for the Virginia Tourism Corporation in multiple roles; she previously served as Destination Development Specialist and Senior Destination Development Specialist, and she currently serves as Partnership Marketing Grants Manager. From 2007 to the present, Martin has also worked as adjunct faculty at Old Dominion University [1, 3, 5].
Martin has been affiliated with the International Economic Development Council and University of Virginia Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership [1, 3].
Martin wants teachers to be paid well and have a high quality of life .
Martin wants the curriculum to include past injustices. Martin also wants to incorporate more dual enrollment and career certification programs [1, 2].
Martin supports renovations for safety but also wants construction to minimally impact students .
Martin supports assisting students who require assistance through programs such as IEP and 504 .
Martin supports a higher counselor to student ratio .
