Background
Steven L. Pierce Sr. earned a master’s in Public Administration from Troy University, a master’s in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, and a Doctor of Management degree with a concentration in homeland security from Colorado Technical University. Now retired from active service, he served as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. He is currently an associate professor teaching national security affairs and professional military education in the Naval War College’s College of Distance Education. He is the Assistant Director for Technology and Innovation, manages the Online Professional Military Education Program, and is the area coordinator for the Homeland Defense-Homeland Security elective track for U.S. military and civilian students [2]. Pierce has worked as a Maintenance Electrician, Head Maintenance Electrician, and Head Plant Engineer [3].
