Tyler Harper obtained an associate’s degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering . Since 2013, he has been a State Senator where he currently serves in leadership on the Natural Resources, Public Safety, and Agriculture Committees. Additionally, Tyler is currently the Agriculture & Rural Development Vice-Chair of the Southern Legislative Conference . Harper is also a 7th-generation farmer and small businessman .
Harper plans to strengthen safety protocols when it comes to meat, produce, and other food supply . Harper was a primary sponsor of the 2019 Georgia Hemp Farming Act, which authorized the growing and processing of hemp as an industrial product as long as it had a low THC content .
Harper believes in ensuring that Georgia producers and farmers have a free market. He also supports providing federal funding to farmers during natural disasters . He also wants to ensure tax policy remains fair and equitable to the agriculture industry .
Harper wants to partner with schools and institutions to provide agricultural education to students .
Harper supports the expansion of broadband in rural areas .
