The Team

Each state’s chapter of The Polling Place is led by three regional directors, who lead teams in charge of research, the website, and social media/outreach.

Tenzin Dadak | NY Director of Social Media/Outreach

Tenzin is a freshman at Harvard University. She is very interested in civic engagement, political science, and public policy. In high school, she captained her Public Forum debate team and helped bridge research gaps for under-resourced debaters. She also helps the Tibetan refugee community in exile by volunteering at schools and hospitals over summers. With The Polling Place, she hopes to increase voter accessibility. In her free time, she enjoys listening to Frank Ocean and cooking.

Daniel Yu | NY Director of Website

Daniel is a senior at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He hopes to pursue his passions in economics, finance, and international relations. In his free time, he likes to read, sleep, watch YouTube videos, and learn about interesting topics such as cooking. Daniel firmly believes in The Polling Place’s mission because he’s seen the lack of voting information firsthand in his community.

William Wu | NY Director of Research

William is a senior at the Bronx High School of Science. He’s deeply interested in helping out his community through service events. Through Polling Place, he seeks to assist people in making their own opinions. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and going to Key Club events.

Ethan Zakharov | NY Research Tean

Ethan is a senior at the Bronx High School of Science and is planning on majoring in economics in college. He has been a part of his school’s Science Olympiad team for many years and his biggest pastimes are keeping up with current events, playing tennis, and music (especially playing the bass guitar). As a member of The Polling Place’s New York Research Team, Ethan hopes to gather as much information as possible to help potential voters make informed decisions.

Avani Khorana | NY Website Team

Avani is a junior at Horace Mann School in the Bronx, NY. She is dedicated to social justice and political reform as she pushes for everyday citizens to have their voices heard. In her free time, she enjoys working on her artwork, playing soccer, and seeing friends.

Jason Xia | NY Website Team

Jason is a junior at Stuyvesant High School. He is interested in philosophy, history, and anthropology. At school, Jason is on the debate, history bowl, chess, and ethics bowl teams. He seeks to increase votes from minorities in local elections through The Polling Place. In his free time, he watches anime and plays chess.

Camille Chen | NY Social Media/Outreach Team

Camille is a junior at the Bronx High School of Science. She is interested in the national news but also the more local, less well-known news that most others don’t read about. She enjoys helping the underprivileged in any community with progressing their knowledge. Through The Polling Place, she seeks to continue to help others increase their knowledge and voice their own opinions. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her dog, drawing, and watching anime.

Timothy Brett | NY Social Media/Outreach Team

Timothy is a freshman at the University of Toronto, where he will study political science and public policy. He has already pursued efforts in politics as he worked for a campaign over the course of 2020 for Manhattan District Attorney. He hopes that by working for The Polling Place, he can increase political awareness not only in his community but across the country.

Emma Nguyen | NY Social Media/Outreach Team

Emma Nguyễn is a freshman at Dartmouth College. She is passionate about social justice and ensuring communities all over the country get the help they need. In her free time, you can find her jamming to her various Spotify playlists, cooking for her family, or strolling around New York City.

Ellen Yu | NY Social Media/Outreach Team

Ellen is a sophomore at Stuyvesant High School in New York. She’s interested the various forms of government and how systems can work together. Ellen cares a lot about the environment and the policies surrounding it. She wants to use The Polling Place as a way of spreading accurate information about elections and their candidates.
